Black Wolves Open Playoffs With 1-1 Tie
The Waterloo Pee Wee Black Wolves opened their playoff series with Hamilton on the road on Saturday.

This was an exciting game with both teams going all out to win the series opener.  The Reps opened the scoring lin the first when the Hamilton forward fired a wrist shot from the slot.  The second period was tight checking with both teams unable to get quality scoring chances.  The Wolves were the more physical teams as they dished out several big hits to keep the Hamilton players on their toes.  The Wolves were called for some questionable penalties in this game but their strong penalty killing units were able to keep the Reps from increasing their lead.  When the Reps did get a scoring chance, goalie Brandon Thompson was there to shut the door.  The Wolves found themselves shorthanded five minutes into the third but Jeff Young forced a turnover deep int he Hamilton zone that saw Luke Snider pick up the puck and get a shot on net that beat the Hamilton goaltender to tie the game at one apiece.  The Wolves kept up the intensity through the rest of the third period and again managed to kill a key penalty late in the game.  Waterloo looked like they might win this one in regulation when Jacob McMahon made an end to end rush and his hard wrist shot narrowly missed finding the top corner.  The game remained tied at the end of regulation and the teams were set to play a five minute overtime.  OT settled nothing however and this one ended in a 1-1 draw.  A great team effort by the Wolves to open this 6 point series.  Snider was named the game's Hardest Worker.

Game 2 goes Sunday night at 7 p.m. at Albert McCormick West.
