Battle of Waterloo Still Tied After 3 Games
It was another barnburner between Waterloo lack and Waterloo Gold in the Pee Wee Consolation Finals.

The teams had split the first two games, each winning by a 3-2 score.  The power play would be an important factor in this games as four of the six goals came with the man advantage.  After a scoreless first period, Gold opened the scoring when Matt Young banged in a rebound after a nice rush by Daniel Ciulei.  Black had the opportunity to even the score a few minutes later when Drayton Duckett and Jeff Young broke in on a two on one.  Duckett fed a perfect pass to Young who redirected the puck towards the right side of the net.  A sure goal was snagged out of nowhere by Gold goalie, Max Wright, who made the save of the series to keep his team ahead.  With time running out in the second, Jack Edmeades scored a crucial goal for Gold on the power play with less than one second remaining.  This could have signaled the end for Black but they regrouped and came out hard in the third period.  With Black on the power play, Zack Walsh broke in over the blue line, cut across the middle and fired a hard shot on net.  The rebound came out to a hard charging Jeremy Nejadrasoul who put the rebound under the cross bar to get Black within one and back in the game.  Black carried a lot of the play from this point but were unable to even the score.  Gold went back on the power play with seven minutes left in regulation and they once again took advantage by scoring their third power play goal of the game when Coleman Smith converted a cross crease pass.  Black found themselves down two with only six minutes to go.  Nejadrasoul did his best to regain some momentum by breaking in down the side and cutting in hard toward the goal.  As he cut towards the Gold net, he slid the puck five hole to make it a 3-2 game.  This lifted Black as they came right back.  Tyrell Brown made a nice individual rush through the neutral zone and over the blue line.  After momentarily losing the puck, the puck found its way back onto his stick and he was able to get his shot over Wright and into the net.  Game was now tied at three goals apiece.  Overtime was needed but settled nothing and this game ended in a draw.  Nejadrasoul was named the Hardest Worker for Black.  The six point series is tied at three points each.  At least two more games will be needed to decide the winner.  Sounds like the fans are the real winners in this one!

Next game goes Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at RIM Optimists.
