Novice Timber Wolves Win Silver Stick Tournament
It was a perfect end to a great tournament as the Timber Wolves went undefeated all weekend.

Novice Timber Wolves are the Silver Stick Champions!

It took an overtime period for the Timber Wolves to win 4 - 3 as they faced the Waterloo Ice Wolves in tournament play. It was a great game by both teams as they battled hard against each other. The boys scored 41 seconds into the first period. Cole Hunsberger picked up the loose puck from centre ice and sent Jake Patterson in to wrist a shot high glove side. The boys had plenty of scoring chances as they skated back and forth up the ice. It was a late first period goal by the Ice Wolves that made it 1 - 1.

The boys came out strong in the second period and they kept the play deep in the opponents zone. Jack Droumtsekas fired the puck from the blue line. It was the gritty work of Griffin Beddis that allowed him to fight off a defender and slide the puck over to Finn Skuterud who made no mistake pounding the puck in the back of the net making it 2 - 1. Two late period goals saw the Timber Wolves down 3 - 2. The boys had their work cut out for them.

Thomas Chan came out on fire in the third as he drew the face off back to Jude Hawthorn. Jude sent the puck over to Quade Willson who in turn sprung Thomas along the boards. Thomas shot the puck top corner knotting the game at 3 a piece. The rest of the period saw several scoring attempts by both teams. The goalies came up big to keep the teams in the game.

In the overtime period the boys kept the play deep in the opponents zone. There was a big scrum for the puck in front of the net. Several shots were fired and stopped until Griffin Beddis dished the puck to the side of the net where Cole Hunsberger scored the biggest goal of his career!

Everyone worked hard throughout the tournament. You passed the puck around, worked on your shots from the point that generated several scoring chances and played a very strong defensive tournament. What a thrilling end to a very exciting game. The parents were on the edge of their seats all game long. Congratulations boys. Now its back home to finish off the rest of the second round of league play.

MVP of the game goes to Cole Hunsberger. Cole took home the game puck for his game winning goal to go on his mantle.

Thomas Chan wears the hardest worker helmet for his tough play. He never gave up on the puck and scored the goal that extended the game to OT.

Team Assist stick is all yours Mr. Griffin Beddis. Assisting on the game winning goal is just as good as scoring it.

Way to go Wolves. Everyone is very proud of you.
