Cruising into Cambridge
Following on the coat tails of the great gold medal performance in the Peterborough tournament, the Major Atom Wolves AAA team rolled into Cambridge for the second time in as many weeks and then Niagara for a return exhibition engagement against the North Stars.  Firing almost 30 pucks at the net, Waterloo managed to rout the Cambridge Hawks yet again, this time by a more convincing 3-1 score with a decidedly more dominant edge in play.  The Cambridge goalkeeping was tremendous in this game to keep the score close.

In Cambridge, Ryan McGeown began two breakout plays from his own end for two assists, Jake Thompson also had two assists on the excellent pair of goals scored by Kyle Maloney.   Maloney then set up Preston Young in front of the net who banged it home for the third goal late in the third to put the game beyond reach.  Wolves did a great job of killing off a 5 on 3 powerplay for almost a whole two minutes.  Misha Stastna played strong in net for the win, shutting the door when it needed to be shut.

Going into Niagara, despite a Major Junior worthy warm up, Waterloo came out looking a little flat and were soon behind 2-0 after less than 5 minutes in.  In typical Wolves fashion however, the team that never gives up, didn't give up.  Three unanswered goals later with a lead into the third, the North Stars managed to tie the game 3-3 with a bit of a seeing eye goal on a screen that went through about 3 pairs of legs.  As unlucky as that was, the Wolves still came away with their season long unbeaten streak intact with a good spirited effort.  Kyle Maloney started the scoring from a head man pass from Ryan McGeown.  Jake Thompson got an unassisted marker and finishing off the scoring was Spencer Young after some hard work on the assists from Cooper Way on the walls and Luke Ronson keeping the puck in the zone.
