Game 21
Richmond Hill Tournament Semi Final. A rematch of the final 2 years ago with the Avenue Rd Ducks at the Waterloo Wolves

Alright, step 4 of 5 to get to where we want to be.  Discipline, no blind back hand passes up the middle!! This is business now, no chirping, but feel free to smile when the opponent has something to say. We're off to a great start and our fore check is as effective as always. We control the puck in their end and the Ducks get into penalty trouble. It's our first of three power plays in the 1st period.  We seemed to struggle with setting things up.  We were missing that first pass and just being a little to sloppy with the puck.  The Ducks killed off all three penalties and now it was our turn.  We get our first penalty with just under 2 minutes to go in the 1st.  Penalty kill is solid. With 14 seconds left in the 1st Hooper carries into the Ducks zone on the right side. Hooper gets a shot to the net. The puck is sitting in front of the goalie and Baker skates in and chops at the loose puck. The puck goes up in the air and slowly flips end over end and everyone waits for it to fall. The puck lands behind the goal tender for a short handed goal to take a 1-0 lead. The first period ends with the shots 10-6 for the Wolves.  The second period we were in the box for the first half and Fahmy was a little busier than usual and did a great job holding the fort down.  We continued to struggle with our passing and escaped the 2nd period unscathed with the shots 15 -4 in favour of the Ducks. It's Ok, anyone can have a bad period, it's not who starts it's who finishes that counts.  3 minutes into the 3rd period we're killing another penalty. Baker picks off a pass in our end and goes ball hockey with the deep puck 20 feet over everyones head. Haffey at centre ice kicks in the jets, it's a race for the puck. The defender has him by a nose at the blue line and Haffey gets 1/2 a stride on him at the right hash marks and goes kamikaze. He dips the inside shoulder and cuts hard and chops at the puck as the goalie covers the post. The puck goes right across the front of the net and finds the inside of the left post as Haffey's body slams against the end boards.  Everyone's Ok, the dagger has been dramatically placed with our 2nd short handed goal of the game. It's 2-0 Wolves. Next shift Mirt intercepts a pass in our end and feeds Schal at centre who gives to Baker and he beats his defender wide again and roofs another for the 3-0 lead.  That's our final. The shots were 29-19 in favour of the Ducks. Our hardest worker went to Fahmy. No quit here, not our best game, but we found a way to win.  Off to the final, that's why we're here, to Burn another Ship boys.

Burn the Ships!!
