Game 19
Game 2 at the Richmond Hill Tournament. We're up against our host, but business is business.
Let's get a quick start. Like to get the first punch, and make them fight their way back. And we're off, 20 seconds in Mirt gives to Baker up the right side,Baker shoots low far pad and Schal going to the net puts it in the back door. 1-0 Wolves. 1 1/2 minutes later it's Carr-Pries to Hooper who feeds Haffey who finishes quickly for the 2-0 lead. A little over a minute later deep in their end Richmond Hill turns the puck over to Logel who fires hard and low and it's 3-0. With 1 1/2 to go in the 1st Beech let's a hard low shot go from the point and Carr-Pries tips it into the top of the net, a thing of beauty. The ref Skates over and said sorry guys the net was off "no goal". We did our best to console Carr-Pries "Lol" and we're back to the game. Less than a minute to go in the 1st Beech holds the puck in at the blue line and walks in to shoot and what do you know he get's tackled. Richmond Hill takes off with the odd man rush and get's the shot off into the Fahmy's body. The puck falls behind him and before the D can stop it, it rolls over the line. It's now 3-1 Wolves. Great first period, shots were 18-4 Wolves. We have a lot of hockey to play so let's keep up the intensity. Halfway through the 2nd on the power play, Beech gets the puck to Schal who goes down the left side. Schal slips a puck gently into the high slot and Mirt rips a one timer over the pad inside the right post. It's 4-1 Wolves. 2 1/2 minutes later Logel gets the puck at centre and feeds Hooper as they come in on a 2 on 1. Hooper gives back to Logel for the give and go back to Hooper and through the 5 hole for goal number 5 It's 5-1 Wolves. We take a penalty late in the second. We dump the puck deep. Pernfuss applies pressure and steals the puck. Pernfuss cuts from left to right across the crease and slips it between the outstretched pad and the post with 7 seconds left in the 2nd for a short handed goal.That's right it's 6-1 Wolves. Shots in the 2nd were 7-3 Wolves. The third was more of the same as the kids kept the pressure on. Half way through the third we have control of the puck. With the puck at the point Droog sends it D to D to Brown who get's a shot to the net and Mackenzie pounces on the rebound and it's 7-1 Wolves. 30 seconds later Graham feeds Carr-Pries who sends Haffey in on goal and Haffey puts it home for the 8-1 lead and that's the way it ended. Final shots were 33-8 for the Wolves and the hardest worker went to Logel. One more to wrap up 1st in our pool, great effort.
