Game 9 vs AtoMc Orange
Hockey Blog by Gina Wolfe

Lightning played as visitors to AtoMc Orange. The power for position & intensity these boys are bringing to the ice is intense! Orange has some big players and some talented boys but the Lightning boys were ready. It was a fast and furious opening to the game, both teams skating hard.

Lightning were first on the board , goal scored by #2 S. Ritchie. His strong 1st goal gave his team the edge they needed. The fans, players and coaches thought the 2nd would be scoreless until #4 L. Cabral owned the top corner of the net when he deked out Orange from center ice, and unleashed a wicked wrist shot going bar down, 2-0 Lightning @ 1:27. Orange came right back after the goal and made a great pass out front to make it 2-1 with 55.5 seconds remaining in the 2nd. The 3rd period had lots of action but no goals or penalties until #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe took one for the team after a lot of frustration, for tripping at 5:52.  Lightning played outstanding and killed off the majority of the penalty in the Orange end. In the closing minute of the game, Orange coaches pulled the goalie with hopes of tying it up, face off in Lightning end.  Lots of scrambling & digging by both teams. Attempts to get it out by Lightning and attempts on goal by Orange. With 0.8 SECONDS in the game, #15 M. Williamson beautifully blasts down the ice for the empty net goal. 3-1 Lightning!!! Closing comment…. HOLY MOLY WHAT A GOALIE!!! Way to keep your team on top Callum!
