Playoffs Game 3
Blog by Gina Wolfe
Feb. 8th, Lightning Struck & Purple was defeated! Once again Lightning dug deep to come back from being 2 goals behind. Purple scored the 1st goal 3 minutes into the game. #12 L. Rowbotham was all over Purple in their end keeping the puck from escaping past the blue line throughout the 1st until he went to the sin bin for tripping at 1:49.

A Purple player followed his lead and joined him at 1:16. Another Purple player landed himself in the box for tripping 9 seconds into the 2nd. Even though Purple was short handed, they managed a very promising break away attempt that was denied by the quick glove of goalie #1 C. Carter. #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe tripped at 5:36 which gave Purple their power play goal at 4:10. #4 L. Cabral was hooked and tripped enroute to the net, but the ensuing penalty was nullified because with a tremendous second effort he managed to get his shot off from his knees, between the goalies legs, banked off his pad and in at 2:31 making it 2-1. The goal that tied the game came at 6:52 of the 3rd when #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe wrapped around the net, passed the puck out front to #2 S. Ritchie, who with Lightning speed drove it in the net. Purple tried taking back the lead with another break away goal but #1 C. Carter slammed the door with another amazing glove save! Purple got a body checking penalty at 4:49 giving Lightning the go ahead opportunity they needed to score the game winner at 3:22. #5 A. Niessen made a perfect pass to #4 L. Cabral for the power play winning goal. Final score 3-2 Lightning. Terrific back checking all game by all the boys. #6 T. Le, #10 B. Barnes and #12 L. Rowbotham had strong hard skating, great presence & positioning all game. #3 A. Farhood did so much hard digging out there for puck possession. Very impressive game gentlemen. You all played very well! Golden jersey player of the game, none other then #1 C. Carter who held his team together all game & made tremendous saves!
