Game 7 vs. AtoMc Red
Hockey Blog by Gina Wolfe

The AtoMc Yellow Lightning moved into 2nd place in the division this past weekend. It’s a tight race but the GF% has them ahead of the other teams battleing for 2nd in the league.  On November 30th all the Lightning players performed exceptionally. The Lightning opened the scoring at the 2 minute mark when #10 B. Barnes made a precise pass to #2 S. Ritchie at the blue line, Ritchie buried it getting the 1st goal for yellow at 8:12.

At 2:18, #2 S. Ritchie scored his 2nd goal, assisted by #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe and #6 T. Le, making it 2-0. Throughout the 1st period #12 L. Rowbotham made great attempts on net, made a sweet one timer pass & did a tremendous job of clearing the puck out of his own end. Preventing scoring opportunities for their opponents #10 B. Barnes forced the the turn over numerous times, #15 M. Williamson and #17 J. Corman played excellent strategic defense.  Red started the 2nd period strong scoring their 1st goal at 8:04. They would go on to score another at 5:48, tying it up 2-2. Lightning responded when #2 S. Ritchie assisted the goal scored by #4 L. Cabral at 3:52. #8 D. Song had some wicked moves throughout the 2nd, as he deked out the Red team over & over again. My favorite part of the 2nd period was when forward #7 B. Uniac got back to cover his teammate’s defense position! Way to use your head and read what's happening on the ice Uniac, you prevented a goal! Right off the face off at the beginning of the 3rd, #4 L. Cabral swung around into his end with the puck, flew up the ice, deked out red and scored an unassisted goal at 9:44, opening the gap back up.  Red answered back at 8:19, making it 4-3.  Just over a minute later, #4 L. Cabral won the faceoff in his own end, and again went coast to coast with the puck sniping this one top shelf at 7:03 for the hat trick.  The following few minutes Red tried their hardest to score but #15 M. Williamson robbed them of the puck and #10 B. Barnes backed checked like crazy. It paid off and #10 B. Barnes would score from just inside the blue line, with 4:05 left in the 3rd.  Red immediately retaliated, making it 6-4 at 3:54.  Blocking by #11 J. Weber in the closing minutes was awesome. Thanks to the super hustle on the ice by #3 A. Farhood and #5 A. Niessen all game, the blocking of shots on goal by #6 T. Le, the outstanding goaltending by #1 C. Carter and the TERRIFIC effort by every player, Lightning went home victorious.
