Game 5 vs. AtoMc Blue
Hockey Blog by Gina Wolfe

The AtoMc Yellow Lightning had a tremendous weekend of hockey.

Game 5 had the lightning up against AtoMc Blue and the boys went home with a 3-1 win. Despite the outstanding goal tending & terrific defensive skills of The Lighting D, Blue were first to get on the scoreboard, at 2:14 in the 1st Blue scored making it 1-0.  Just over a minute into the 2nd at 8:57, #4 L. Cabral scored top shelf, assisted by #14 K. Curtis-Wolfe.

Throughout the period #2 S. Ritchie made some great attempts and #4 L. Cabral dinged one off the cross bar but it managed to stay out of the net. Goalie #1 C. Carter was on fire with some big glove saves. Blue received a body checking penalty at 5:04 but Lightning couldn’t capitalize on the man advantage.  With 2 minutes left in the 2nd, #4 L. Cabral, pulled his signature move & wrapped around the net and didn’t stop digging until the puck was in, 2-1 lead for Lightning. #2 S. Ritchie spent the rest of the period hustling & digging hard for his team. Throughout the 3rd period #11 J. Weber performed precise stick checking and cleared the puck from the front of his net. With less than 5 minutes remaining in the game #4 L. Cabral & #7 B. Uniac flew up the ice with the puck. Driving to the back post Uniac met the sweet pass from Cabral, with a one timer to make it 3-1.  Blue tried answering back with a one timer of their own but #1 C. Carter slid through his crease & denied them! Lightning defense played their best game this season limiting the chances of the opposition.
