Wolves Impressive in 5-1 Win
The Pee Wee Gold Wolves faced the Brantford 99ers on Saturday and played a strong game from start to finish.
They were rewarded with goals by going to the net hard and banging in rebounds. Bryson Henderson opened the scoring in the first by firing a low shot that beat the 99ers goalie. Thomas Dunbar and Derek Jensen assisted on the play. Very early in the second, Evan Kula made it 2-0 with help from Josh Stephens and Samson Walsom. Brantford narrowed the gap when a bouncing puck was redirected in the Waterloo goal. The Wolves quickly responded when Griffen Harris kept the puck in at the Brantford blue line and sent the puck down low to Justin Labrie. Labrie skated towards the goal and fed a cross crease pass to Luke Matthews who banged it in to restore the two goal lead. Dunbar extended the lead in the third with help from Kula and Thomas Lunz. Henderson scored a shorthanded goal a few minutes later to make it a four goal lead. Matthews and Harris assisted on the goal. Raegan Gies wasn't too busy but made the saves for the Wolves when called upon. Harris was named the game's Hardest Worker.
The Wolves will be back in action following the Christmas break when they take part in the Stratford Silver Stick tournament. Merry Christmas everyone!
