The Waterloo Mountain Wolves fought a hard battle against the Cambridge Hawks White this past Saturday October 20th.
The Mountain Wolves came out hard. It was great to have the team at full strength
with the return of #19 Nolan Reesor from the injury reserve list. This was evident as Reesor made a fantastic
pass (for his 1st assist of the season) to the fierce young #88 Ryan Heard who
got the 1st goal with 2 minutes & 53 seconds left in the 1st period. However, with 1 minute left in the 1st
Cambridge tied the game. Defenseman #14
Owen Yager wasn’t very pleased about that & did a fantastic job clearing
the puck out of the Wolves end. A hard
fought puck battle along the boards by #44 Tyler O'Hearn & #10 Nolan
Romhild, lead to #68 Ethan Hay scoring a beauty for the Wolves 2nd goal to
regain the lead at the end of the first period.
Just before the 2nd period finished Cambridge would tie
it up & then take a 3-2 lead less than 6 minutes into the 3rd period. With
the power house defensive work of #66 Cameron Hache & #55 Carson Bernhardt
getting the puck up the ice, the forwards #2 Tyler MacDonald & #77 Bryn
Hurl-Loat did some hard digging to get the puck from Cambridge so #88 Ryan
Heard could sneak in & land a short side goal (his 2nd of the game) to tie
it up 3-3!
The strong defensive work of #7 Carver Combe & #9
Jacob Bender wouldn't allow Cambridge to get it out of their own end for most
of the game. Thanks to their hard work #22 Makhaya Campbell got a loose puck
and finished with an amazing top corner goal assisted by #27 Kayden
Curtis-Wolfe & #2 Tyler MacDonald with 6 minutes to go in the 3rd
Cambridge by some miracle managed to lob one last shot
just over the Waterloo Wolves goalies head before the end of the game to tie
the game 4-4. It was a tight game from
start to finish.
Goalies #31 Ben
Pendleton & #33 Mitch Simmons did an outstanding job in net, denying shot
after shot from the Cambridge team all game.
All the Waterloo Mountain Wolves did a terrific job on
the ice. Bravo gentlemen!
