Playoff Round Begins for the Mountain Wolves
Saturday Jan. 5th the Mountain Wolves hosted the St. Catherines Hurricanes at AMC. It seems the Wolves players had too many gingerbread houses & candy canes over the holidays because for most of the 1st period they just couldn't get the puck out of their end!!!

Great defensive skills by #10 Nolan Romhild & beauty saves by #31 Ben Pendleton kept the Hurricanes from scoring. Just over 2 minutes into the 2nd period the Hurricanes scored the 1st goal followed by #5 Nolan Evans of the Wolves, tipping in the hard wrist shot of #22 Makhaya Campbell to even it up at 1-1. Unfortunately quite a few of the Wolves had been pond skating over the holidays & forgot to get their skates sharpened causing them to fall often throughout the game, allowing the Hurricanes to get around them to score 2 more goals in the 3rd. Final score 3-1 for St. Catherines.

Sunday Jan. 6th the Wolves traveled to Brantford to face the 99ers for the 3rd time this season. 3 minutes into the game #44 Tyler O'Hearn hammered the puck into the top corner for a great start. A minute later however Brantford tied it up. A few minutes left in the 1st Brantford took a 2-1 lead.  Beginning of the 2nd period #22 Makhaya Campbell burried the puck in the open slot under the goalies arm pit to tie it up 2-2. The game stayed a nail bitter until the beginning of the 3rd when Brantford regained their lead. Answering back, #68 Ethan Hay hammered a heater in the top corner. The game finished in a 3-3 tie.

#33 Mitch Simmons made outstanding saves to keep the Wolves in the game from start to finish. #7 Carver Combe had a great all around weekend & tried really hard.

Now that the Christmas cob webs are dusted off I hope to see the Wolves start winning again & push their way to the top. Come on boys, you can do it!
