Season Opening Weekend
The Mountain Wolves had a tremendous beginning to their season this weekend.....

The season opener was Saturday October 13th against Cambridge Hawks Red where the boys came out victorious with a 3-2 win. #88 Ryan Heard started it off with a great goal in the sweet spot above the goalie's glove. Cambridge tied it up but #68 Ethan Hay put some speed on the puck & buried it in the back of the net to put the boys back in the lead. The Hawks managed to get another one before #22 Makhaya Campbell answered back with a hard fought rebound goal for the game winner. #9 Jacob Bender and #55 Carson Bernhardt did a great job keeping the puck in the Hawks end throughout the game. #27 Kayden Curtis-Wolfe was a one man "forechecking machine" all game, not allowing the Hawks to get anything going when he was on the ice… he did however get himself a body checking penalty for his first 2 minute sit down in the sin bin of the season . The Hawks however, weren't able to take advantage of the 5 on 4. Both #14 Owen Yagar & #77 Bryn Hurl-Loat played hard, solid defense from the first faceoff. Goalies #31 Ben Pendleton & #33 Mitch Simmons used their fast reflexes & quick gloves between the posts. All the boys played an excellent game, battled hard & the score board showed it in the end.

Sunday October 14th, the Mountain Wolves made the journey to Brantford to play the 99ers which proved to be no less of a disappointment. The Mountain Wolves won the game 4-2 with the quick feet of #22 Makhaya Campbell getting the game opener with 6 minutes left in the 1st period. Unfortunately, the 99ers turned around & scored their 1st goal only seconds later. With 7 minutes left in the 2nd period the 99ers scored again to take the lead. With several key saves by the Wolves goaltenders, winning the puck battles & clearing it out of the Wolves end by #7 Carver Combe & #66 Cameron Hache ensured the 99ers would not take the lead again. #5 Nolan Evans & #10 Nolan Romhild supplied the team with great offensive pressure throughout the 2nd & 3rd period.

With just over 2 minutes to go in the 2nd period #44 Tyler O'Hearn with speed & agility showed up the 99ers goalie to tie the game. With less than 6 minutes to go in the 3rd period #2 Tyler MacDonald scored for the Mountain Wolves to break the tie & take a 3-2 lead. As it turns out Tyler MacDonald wasn't satisfied with the 1 goal lead & decided to slide one more beauty goal between the goalie's legs with 2 minutes left in the game. The Mountain Wolves went home with a well deserved win. All the boys put in an amazing effort & worked hard for the win. Well done gentlemen, you all did a super job. Keep up the good work.
