Wolves Travel to London for Double Header
The Wolves traveled to London for their second double header of the season just as winter decided to drop its first snow fall.  Thankfully nothing more than a dusting.

Game 1 saw the boys take on the West London Hawks.  The first period was the strongest as the Wolves battled hard for the puck and limited time and space for the Hawks.

The Hawks came to play and showed it by potting 2 quick goals early in the second, which took the wind out of the Wolves sails.  Some penalty trouble put the boys in a tough spot.  However they sure looked great on an extended 5 on 3 penalty kill, limiting the shots and keeping the play to the outside.  Matthews made a number of great saves on the PK and throughout the game.

Props given to Hawthorn as he made the long stretch pass up to Riley-McKay on the power play, who then stormed in with a strong shot blocker side on the breakaway.  Unfortunately that was all the offense the boys could muster this game.

Game 2 was a much stronger game as the Wolves took it to the Oakridge Aeros who are tied for second place in league standings.

The first period saw a much better effort from the entire team which resulted in a couple of early scoring chances.  Play continued with some back and forth action when Wei broke the deadlock from a great pass from Young with 1:30 to go in the first.

The second period continued as a see saw battle, as both teams played each other hard with scoring chances at each end.  The Aeros got on the board early in the second and couldn't convert on a couple of power play opportunities including a 40 second 5 on 3.  Craig played very calmly and turned away a number of grade a chances.

The parade to the penalty box continued as the Wolves took a penalty with just over 12 minutes to go in the third period where the Aeros got in on a partial break and broke the deadlock.  Another 5 on 3 for the Aeros gave them an opportunity to put this game to bed however the Wolves wanted no part of that.  After another successful PK it was back to the offence.  Johnstone made a great play to keep the puck in the zone, shot the puck on net and Proulx bangs home the rebound to tie the game.  Right off the face off the puck was shot on the Aeros net which popped out a juicy rebound that Waters made no mistake with deaking the goalie to the go ahead goal!

With 1:37 to go, the Oakridge team came at the boys with everything they had.  They pulled their goalie for the extra attacker with just over a minute to go and applied pressure for the tying goal.  There was zero panic in the Wolves from the goalie out as they only gave up one shot on net as the buzzer rang.

Great come from behind win boys!!  This was a solid TEAM effort with every player doing their part.  Keep the momentum going as we head into Kitchener for our next game.

Hardest workers for today's  games were Matthews and Craig respectively.  Great games between the pipes guys.  Keep making it look easy.
