Weekend Wrap-Up Jan.30
This past Friday the Wolves began their play-off run against season rivals Cambridge.

So far this season, the Wolves had been unable to claim even a point against a tough Cambridge team.  However, the team has played very well against the Hawks, losing three one goal games.  With the added motivation of play-off's, the Wolves looked to finally beat their rivals.

However, things started of poorly for the Wolves.  Cambridge came out ready to start the game, and the Wolves clearly did not.  The Hawks were all over the Wolves throughout the entire first shift until Cambridge scored just forty five seconds into the game.  The next few shifts were more of the same, until the Wolves finally found their legs at the midway point of the first period.  With the shift in momentum, the Wolves were able to dominate the second half of the period and were able to score on the powerplay with just twenty seven seconds remaining to tie the game 1-1.

Waterloo continued to play well throughout the second period, however Cambridge carried their fair share of the play as well.  Goalie LaFlamme played well when called upon and the second period ended with the score remaining 1-1.

Heading into the third, the Wolves knew they were in great position.  If they continued to play well, they would have a good chance of winning the game.  Things were looking really good to start the period as Cambridge was assessed a penalty sending the Wolves to a four minute powerplay.  However, the powerplay was unable to get anything going, and looked flustered in their own end, resulting in a short handed goal for the Hawks.  Disappointed by their efforts on the powerplay, Waterloo continued to push for the tying goal.  After many chances, the Wolves were finally able to score, tying the game with just over three minutes remaining.  From there, the Wolves found themselves in penalty trouble, however they were able to end the game killing a five on three, with a final score of 2-2.

The team worked hard for a well deserved point to begin the play-off's.  They were looking forward to facing Hamilton Blue later that weekend, but the game was cancelled due to weather.  The team now looks forward to playing Kitchener Red on the road this Saturday.
