Peewee Ice Wolves Season Comes to an End
This past weekend the Wolves season came to an end, losing in the semi-finals to Hamilton White.

Waterloo travelled to Hamilton for game one, and the team came out flying.  They were able to score two quick goals before the midway point of the period to take a 2-0 lead.  However, from there Hamilton took control of the game.  Waterloo would maintain their two goal lead for the remainder of the first period, but Hamilton took full control of the momentum.

Heading into the second period, the Wolves were on their heels.  Hamilton took advantage, scoring four goals to take a two goal lead of their own heading into the third period.

The third period was more of the same.  The Wolves were able to generate very little by way of offence, and Hamilton was able to add a powerplay goal to take the game 5-2.

Coming back home for game two, the Wolves knew that they would have to come out with a much better effort, and they did just that.  The team had a glorious chance to score on the first shift, but after they were not able to convert, Hamilton was able to score on their first chance of the game to take a 1-0 lead.  However, the Wolves continued to battle and had plenty of time in the offensive zone as well as multiple two on one opportunities.  Despite their offensive chances, the period ended with the Wolves still trailing.

To begin the second, Hamilton was once again able to score on one of their opportunities.  â€‹However, the Wolves continued to push.  They fought through a couple of key penalty kills, but were not able to score on a powerplay chance of their own and the period ended with a score of 2-0.

Early in the third, Waterloo was forced to kill off a number of penalties, and it finally came back to haunt them.  Hamilton would add another goal on the powerplay to take a commanding three goal lead.  The Wolves continued to kill off penalties, which gave the team some life.  The Wolves were able to score with just over three minutes remaining to make the game close.  With the goalie pulled, the Wolves did all they could to tie the game.  However, the Huskies were able to score an empty net goal to make the final 4-1.

Although the team did not accomplish our goal of making it to the Alliance Championships, we did have a successful season.  Starting from our tournament victory in St. Catharines to our final defeat on Sunday, the team has come a long way.  As individuals, every player has improved.  We hope that every player enjoyed the season, and we look forward to seeing you on the ice next season.
