Weekend Wrap-Up Feb.28, Mar.1
Heading into action this past weekend, the Wolves looked to keep their undefeated playoff record intact.

They knew it would be a tough start though, as they would first have to travel to Hamilton to play first place Hamilton Blue.  The team hoped to have a quick start, and get up early on Hamilton.  However, they once again started the game off slowly.  In fact Hamilton was able to score on just the second shift of the game to take a one goal lead.  Waterloo continued to struggle and Hamilton would add another before the end of the first period.

To begin the second, the Wolves were still struggling to find their feet.  Hamilton would score once again early in the period to take a commanding 3-0 lead.  However, following the third goal, the Wolves finally found some life.  The team was finally able to put some pressure on the Hamilton defense and would score to cut the lead to two.  This is when the game got wild.  Just after Waterloo was able to score, Hamilton was able to score one minute later to regain the three goal lead.  However, four minutes later, the Wolves would cut into the lead once again, putting one past the Hamilton goal to make the score 4-2.  Riding the momentum the team continued to play well for the remainder of the period.  They were rewarded with a buzzer beater, scoring with just one second left on the clock to cut the lead to one.

Heading into the third period the team had plenty of jump.  However, the up and down battle continued as Hamilton scored early in the period to make the score 5-3.  Waterloo would battle back once again, scoring just eight seconds later to cut the lead to one.  Both teams played hard for the remainder of the period, when Hamilton appeared to put the game away for good, scoring with just over two minutes remaining to make the score 6-4.  However, Waterloo battled back once again.  They were able to score once again with just over a minute remaining to bring the team back within one.  They continued to play hard for the rest of the game and had many quality scoring chances.  However, the team fell just short as the game ended with a score of 6-5 for Hamilton.

Although the team had an extremely slow start, they did show a lot of character and never gave up.  They looked to take their effort from the final two periods into their next game at home versus Kitchener Red.  They were able to do just that, as this time the Wolves had a quick start of their own.  The team was able to score just before the midway point of the first period to take a 1-0 lead.  From there the team never looked back.

They continued to dominate play into the second period where they would score two more goals, making the score 3-0.  All three lines continued to play well into the third period, as the team would add two more goals.  Late in the third, Kitchener was able to score a poweplay goal of their own, however Waterloo would take the final 5-1.

This weekend the Wolves will once again face Kitchener Red, this time on the road on Saturday.  Next, they will play at home versus Hamilton White on Sunday.  With the playoffs winding down, the Wolves will look to maintain home ice advantage for the first round of playdowns.
