Weekend Wrap-Up Jan. 3,4
This past weekend the Wolves travelled to Hamilton to face the Huskies on Saturday and hosted the St. Catharines Hurricanes on Sunday.

The Wolves came ready to play on Saturday, and that was evident as they dominated possession throughout much of the game.  However, although they were able to spent large amount of time in their opponents end, the Wolves were not able to generate much for quality scoring chances.  After a few power play opportunities in the first, during which the Wolves were not able to score, the team finally opened the scoring near the midpoint of the second period.

From there on, all three forward lines continued to dominate possession in Hamilton’s end.  However the story remained the same as the team was not able to buy a goal.  Heading into the third period both teams exchanged power play opportunities.  The team defense and goalie LaFlamme were up to the challenge though, as the Wolves were able to hang onto their slim one goal lead to take the game 1-0.

Following the low scoring affair in Hamilton, the Wolves returned to Waterloo to try and add a few more goals to the score sheet.  However, it is official, the Wolves are struggling to score.  The Wolves once again dominated play early, however it was St. Catharines who was able to score early to take a 1-0 lead.  Waterloo continued to push and once again showed promise in the offensive zone.  This time the team was rewarded as they were able to score to tie the game at one.

The Wolves continued to push into the second period, but once again St. Catharines was able to score, this time on the power play off of an unfortunate play.  More of the same occurred in the third.  The Wolves had plenty of zone time to begin the period, but were not able to tie the game.  The Hurricanes were able to add one more before the Wolves found themselves in penalty trouble, which is becoming a common occurrence in Waterloo.  Strong play by penalty killing forwards and defensemen, as well as goalie Chin, kept the Hurricanes power play off of the score sheet but the game would end with a final score of 3-1.

After playing two quality games effort wise, the Wolves are looking forward to a weekend off where the team will enjoy a team party.  Following a weekend to relax the team hosts two home games against Cambridge and Burlington on Jan. 17 and 18 where they will once again look to fill the back of the net.
