Pee Wee Gold Wolves Take Series Opener
The Waterloo Pee Wee Gold Wolves opened their round 1 playoff series against the Brantford 99ers.

Brantford got on the board early in the first when they banged in a rebound while on a power play.  The Wolves were a bit shaky to start but found their legs mid-way through the first and started getting pucks to the net.  Griffen Harris came close to getting the equalizer when he skated over the blue line and blasted a shot that rang off the cross bar.  In the second, the Wolves picked up the intensity and had several good scoring chances.  Thomas Dunbar skated in on a breakaway and had the Brantford goaltender beat, but unfortunately the goal post got in the way.  The Wolves were finally rewarded with a goal late in the second when Derek Jensen skated in from behind the Brantford net and managed to tuck the puck past the goaltender to the the game at one apiece.  Josh Stephens and Thomas Lunz assisted on the goal.  The Wolves took the lead in the third when Luke Matthews found a loose puck in the crease and banged it in after Evan Kula made a nice play skating out of the corner.  Brandon McBain also picked up an assist.  Stephens scored a beauty a few minuted later to make it 3-1.  Harris made a strong play in front of the net to start the play then Stephens took the puck and skated in all alone before firing the puck in the top corner.  Kula also assisted on the goal.  Reagan Gies was solid in goal for the Wolves.  Stephens and Lunz were the players of the game for the Wolves.

The Wolves host game 2 Sunday afternoon at Albert Mccormick Arena.
