Waterloo Gold Finishes in First Place
Waterloo Gold's performance in the first half of the season is nothing less than stellar. With two wins against the strongest London teams on the weekend to cap off the first half of the season, Waterloo Gold's league record stands at 14-1-2, with an overall record including tournaments of 25-2-3. The two wins propelled the team to first place.

The Saturday game against the London Jr. Knights Green took place in London. Hemmerich started the scoring with a solo goal at 3:30 into the first. The small ice surface at the Medway arena didn't give the players much breathing room and everyone seemed to be on top of one another. London kept the pressure on during a long 4 minute power play at the start of the second but failed to capitalize. Then Duckett snuck behind the London defenders and received a beautiful pass through centre ice from Hayes and scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0. A scramble at the London net in the third was tucked in by Hayes to make it 3-0. And Shi found the top of the net in a breakaway assisted by Schmitz and Loosemore to wrap up the scoring in the 4-0 game. Ludolph's amazing performance in net earned him player of the game.

Sunday Waterloo hosted the London Jr. Knights Gold. The London team was a formidable opponent and opened the scoring towards the end of the first. Waterloo didn't find the net until 5 minutes into the second when Loosemore, assisted by Peake, took a hard wrist shot from the side of the ice that was deflected into the net by the London goalie's glove. Waterloo would take the lead with only 2:44 left in the third when Hayes fed a pass to Schmitz at the blue line who fired the puck at the net to be deflected by Duckett to make it 2-1. Taylor was named player of the game.

Waterloo Gold starts off the second half of the season with a game against Kitchener Red on Saturday and London Gold on Sunday.
