Waterloo Gold Advances to Semi-Final and Final in the Memorial Tournament
Waterloo Gold fought hard for a 2-1 win against the North York Knights on Saturday morning. The win guaranteed their spot in the semi-final on Sunday. Ludolph was named player of the game for a series of outstanding saves.

Waterloo and the Stratford Warriors then faced off on Saturday afternoon in the battle for first and second place among the six teams in the B group. Both teams were able to capitalize on power play opportunities, with Stratford scoring in three power plays and Waterloo in one. The final score was 8-4 for Waterloo. Hayes had another hat trick and was named player of the game. The win meant Waterloo would face Kitchener Red in one semi-final and Stratford and Georgetown would pair up in the other.

The tension was high on Sunday morning as Waterloo and Kitchener Red faced off, the first time these two teams would meet since September 19 when Kitchener pounded Waterloo in a crushing 6-2 defeat. However, Waterloo would have their retribution today. The game started flat but Schmitz put us on the board late in the first, taking a blue line pass from Onuska and firing the puck on net. It trickled through the five-hole to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Hemmerich would score in the second on another nice pass from Onuska and Duckett. Kitchener tried to come back in the third with a goal, but Waterloo scored again as Onuska fed a beautiful pass to Arthur across the net to make it 3-1. Onuska scored on the empty Kitchener net in the last couple of minutes to make it 4-1. Player of the game was (no surprise here) Onuska.

It will be Waterloo Gold and the Georgetown Raiders in the exciting final at 2:15 pm today!
