Friday March 9th- Waterloo vs Milton at Columbia Ice Fields

On this stormy Friday night, we reciprocated by hosting Milton at the coldest arena in town – they don’t call it the Columbia Ice Fields for nothing! Waterloo managed to score early in the game with the Dawson, Brody and Curtis trio. A second goal followed by the Jonathon and Casey combination.  Casey followed with goal number three.  Once again, just as we managed to get ahead by a few goals, the heat was (on the ice, not in the frigid bleachers) turned up as our opponents managed to retaliate scoring two goals almost back to back.  Some unnecessary aggression on Milton’s side added to the increasing tension both on/off the ice. Thankfully, Waterloo managed to push ahead with Colin and Bryce scoring goal number four. Colin, Jeremy and Matthew worked hard together to produce our final goal. Milton proceeded to pull their goalie but despite a flurry of activity, neither team was able to score. The last minute of play was very tense (some could not even watch). What a relief and sense of justice; would have hated to lose to such bullying behavior by some of the opposition.

If you did not need a libation after a long week of work, you certainly needed one, or perhaps several after this squeaker!  Exceptional defence work kept the scoring opportunities down. Special thanks to Callum for his solid goal tending, filling in for Liam who was away.

Congratulations to Colin for being the MVP of the game. Final score: 5 to 4 for Waterloo.

Well folks, that concludes our regular season of play. Many thanks to all: the coaches, players, families and fans for a great experience. Please stay tuned for the final tournament in Hamilton- April 13-15th!
