Friday Dec 23 2011 - Brantford vs Waterloo at the Gretzky Sports Complex

Under clear late- December skies our intrepid team once again ventured afield. The Brantford game at the Gretzky Complex was in a lovely new facility (not to be confused with the not-so lovely old facility). Less than a year old it was a pleasure to be in.  Once again there was the initial pre-game trepidation, how good would this team be once the puck was dropped? Well the puck was dropped, and early in the first period there was end-to-end action. Waterloo was fortunate not to fall behind as Brantford missed an opportunity on a wide-open net. Waterloo then drew first blood as Joshua T opened the scoring, assisted by Colin F. Branford came back to counter and the game was tied – briefly. In the 2nd period the Waterloo boys started to dominate, they were passing well and finished well. Goals were scored by Brody G (assist Matthew M) and  Joshua T netted another goal on a power play. Xavier L added to the tally (again Colin F assisting). Then in the third period the flood gates really opened… Josh T netted his 3rd goal of the night. Bryce R who was up on the wing for this game scored on a pass from Dawson F. Jeremy C threaded a puck into the left side of the net, scoring while on his knees (assist yet again from Colin F). Jeremy then decided to score standing up and added another on the same shift (4th assist from Colin F, and Joshua T). The score clock stopped but the scoring did not. Brody and Dawson wanted everyone on their line to leave the game with a goal that night and Brody passed to Dawson who fed a slick pass to Casey B who backhanded it into the netting. (By this point Waterloo fans were trying to be polite, and not make Brantford feel to bad by cheering after so many goals.) A final goal was added Jeremy, earning the second hat-trick of the evening. An excellent effort by Waterloo!

MVP went to Jeremy C. Congratulations to all

Hope everyone had a healthy, safe holiday.
