Schlueter Hyundai vs. Kitchener Rangers
On Decemeber 17 Schlueter Hyundai (4-0-3) played in a tightly contested battle against the Kitchener Rangers (0-5-2).
Following a weekend with only road hockey for game action, Schlueter came out of the gates with a slow start. The lack of intensity would cost them as they fell behind 1-0 early in the 1st period.
The score would remain 1-0 until the second period when the line of Dietrich, Flanders, and Brookes were rewarded for their hard work with Schlueter's first goal of the contest. However the momentum was short lived as the Rangers scored 26 seconds later to regain the 1 goal lead.
With time winding down in the second, Schlueter found their game as the line of Noble, Duquette, Davis, and J. Demers scored two goals in a span of 8 seconds to take their first lead of the game at 3-2.
The line of Horvath, Wigmore-Lopez, and Anderson jumped in on the offensive action mid-way through the third to make the score 4-2.
Later in the third Noble, Duquette, Davis, and J. Demers continued their offensive dominance, scoring an insurance marker, putting the game out of reach. The Rangers would add a goal late to make the game close, but it ended with a final score of 5-3.
The defensive pairings of Haney and Elhedhli, Garland and Steffler, Domaratzki and Jones played exceptionally well. They kept the team in the game despite the slow start, keeping the score within one. Once the offense arrived they continued their strong play, minimizing the Rangers scoring chances.
C. Demers once again played strong in goal posting his fifth victory of the season allowing only 3 goals against by an improved Rangers team.
Schlueter will now take a break until December 27 when they kick off the annual Christmas tournament against Libro. Enjoy your holidays and Merry Christmas!!!
