Wolves Novice Black open Playdowns with huge Win in Game 1
The future is not set, there is no fate but what we make for ourselves..
Irish proverb

The Wolves did not need the luck of the Irish nor did they take the feisty Cougars from Burlington lightly.  They did not see fate, but set destiny by pounding the Cougars in their end to force turnovers and puck battles.

The team overcame a week of adversity with the Great Plague running through the locker room, taking many prisoners with fevers, coughing and the occasional painting of toilet bowls.  The boys pushed through with guidance from the Team Doctor (Seus) and pumping of fluids to be ready.  Unfortunately on this day of the Irish, the Fiddler was not up to tune and sat this one out, but cheered his mates on "Slainte Mhaith"!

The first period was a close one with the Cougars pushing back on the Wolves threats.  Potsy-P opened the scoring with a beauty feed from Pax-Attack that sprung Potsy-P in alone on the Cougars net minder.  Shortly after Blacker and Pax-Attack getting the puck in on the goaltender with Bee-Dups picking up the rebound and putting the good guys up another.  Lucky Jukesy Luke-y came in with a blistering blast from the boards to beat the babbling Cougars goalie to put them up one more.  No pee breaks for this goalie!

Second period was a sleeper for the Wolves as they started to fade away.  The Cougars got their legs and pushed hard outshooting the Wolves and making the game close.   Again, Lucky Jukesy Luke-y found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that happened to be in the Cougars net, putting the Wolves up by 2.  The period finally came to an end with minimal damage with Coombsy holding strong in between the iron.

Coaches regrouped and told the boys to keep it simple during the intermission.  Coach Coombsy denied any press interviews between the period in hopes he can get the boys to see the eye of the tiger...or cougar...?
When asked for an update on the Fiddler, Coach Coombsy said "he's day to day with an upper, to mid-lower body injury and a mild dash of the flu.  Soooo, he should be back next game."

With the third period rolling in, the Wolves came out flying.  The high octane Wolves potted 4 more goals in the period, by Dr Dre, Potsy P, Big Slates and Double Deuce, to put the Wolves up with a substantial lead.

The Wolves travel to Burlington for game 2 on Friday March 22nd in hopes we can close out the series and move onto the finals.  We are expecting a hostile environment in their little rink, but we will be ready, because we BELIEVE!
