Wolves Novice Black Clinch Playdown Birth with Big Win!
The young Wolves solidify second place in the hunt for glory!

In the last game of the playoffs, two important feats happened:

1. After contract talks halted, the Wolves Novice Black Executive committee resolved and signed the Editor in Chief to a new contract running through to the end of Playdowns.  Terms of the contract have not been disclosed, but rumoured to have included a bottle of whiskey and a bag of pucks...the blue ones; and
2. The coaches fired up the Wolves at the exact right moment to start their winning streak!

On the road to Cambridge, the Wolves look to de-wing the Hawks in the Dickson Arena, and they did just that!

In the opening period, the Wolves had some extra giddy up and played the run and gun style of play, by firing bullets on the Hawks goalie.  Shot after shot, the wounded Birds could not hold on any longer with Big Slates picking up a juicy rebound on the side of the net, with help from Dr Dre and the Fiddler.  Double Deuce also got into the action by receiving a pass from B-Dups, who threaded a needle to put the Wolves up by two.  Mid way through the period, Pax Attack grabbed the coach by the tie and said "Put me in Coach, I feel the need, the need for speed!  I'm going bar down on this big dude"...Pax Attack did not disappoint.  Pax came in off the wall and wired a howitzer bar down!  This putting the Wolves up by 3 going into the first intermission,  Feeling good, the Wolves outshot the Hawks 22-4 to dominate the first frame.

Going into the second period, the Wolves know they are facing a hot Goaltender and a very talented Hawks team, so they could not let off of the gas.  This period was a much more evenly matched period with Widdy making several big defensive plays to keep the play deep in the opponent's end, with his D partner, Chidzy, who was seen filing the blade of his stick in the intermission,  just in case he had to de-feather any birds!  We did not see any Hawks mess with our goalie!  Potsy-P went in hot with a swift pass from Blacker in the neutral zone who then wired a laser beam into the net, to make the game 4-0.  With Hutty controlling the play down low, he yelled at Bracks, to "Go Long"!...and like Tom Brady, he let loose a hail mary and sprung Bracks on a breakaway to bang home the Wolves 5th of the game.  Closing out the period 5-0 and outshooting the Hawks 11-5 for this period.

Third period action was on it's way and the fans had certainly got their moneys worth so far...  But, the third period the Hawks came out flying.  With the pressure mounting and having the Wolves back on their heels, we saw great skating and back checking from Niesz who quickly tamed the Birds.  Niesz was like a mosquito swarming all around getting into the Hawks line of site and steeling pucks and forcing plays.  With several back and forth plays, we saw DVR make several highlight saves to keep the Hawks off the board.  Jukesy Pilarzy blasted off with his turbo booster skates to burn past several Hawks to go in and deek out the Hawks goalie to put the Wolves up one more.  There was a short delay after this, as the goalie could not find his jock, that later seemed to be in the second row of the stands..
On a scramble off a late face-off in the Wolves end, the Hawks managed to beat the unbeatable DVR to break the shut out.  G-Mac, like his hall of famer Dad, and like two meat sticks in a bag, he took matters in his own hands and made up for breaking his goalies shutout, by beating the Hawks goalie to finalize the 7-1 victory,

With a post game interview with Goalie, Coombsy, he stated:  "I like how the boys forced the play, skated hard and won the important puck battles, I look forward to starting the next game and continue what DVR has started".  With stingy D, Offensive threats in our Forwards and two William Jennings trophy winners, our two goalies, our opponents better be ready!

Buckle up Wolves Fans, the Playdowns are here and our Novice Black Boys are pumped and ready for battle!  The boys look to face the Burlington Cougars in a best of 3 to see who goes to the finals!
