1 and 1 Series Against Kitchener Blue
The series against Kitchener Blue began with an away game, that earned Waterloo two points, and the desire for a win at home. The Wolves knew that the Jr. Rangers would not just lay down and allow a second Waterloo win; they knew they were going to have to bring their A game to get another two points.
Waterloo vs Kitchener games always promise a great battle. Both teams eager to win, keen to outmatch, intent on outskating and thirsty for a win. Unfortunately there can only be one winner and the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Blue seem to have the upper hand in Sunday's game. Waterloo battled well for the puck, attacking to remove time and space for the Kitchener players. The Wolves took some amazing shots, only to be denied by the Jr. Rangers goalie. We did seem to find the penalty box, but killed the penalty with great positioning of the forwards and quickly skating and passing by the defence to clear the zone. Bosomworth, #19 and Jyrkama, #10 managed to find the mesh to give Waterloo a combined total of two goals from the Kitchener series. Thanks to the agility of #4, Beckner, #2 Hancock and #10 Williams, the Wolves moved the puck forward for scoring possibilities. The defensive pair of #9, Rudolph and #77, McMurry defended the blue line well and pinched, with purpose, in the offensive zone.
The intensity, skill and ability of the teams, now that we are in playoffs, has increased. Waterloo Wolves PeeWee Black have earned their position in Tier 1 and now need to keep the momentum going to remain competitive. Go Wolves Go!
