Wolves Win Against the 99ers
The win couldn't have come at a better time. With only a few games left in this round the Wolves needed to get some points on the board. With a final score of 8-3, Waterloo not only put points on the score board but also in the standings.
Not that the effort wasn't there, but the first period just wasn't a success for the Wolves. With several shots on net, the 99ers goalie was quick to stop their efforts. At the other end, Brantford was able to get one past our line up, earning them the lead, but only for a short time. The second period was where Waterloo came alive. Not sure if it was feeling the pressure of needing the win, or if it was just that things began to gel. Beckner #4 used a quick backhand shot earning himself the first goal and according to the game sheet, three goals and an assist. Miller #3 and Williams #7 both scored a pair of goals showing a consistent effort during the second and third periods. Jyrkama #10 also found the score sheet with a high pass and assist by #14 Jespersen. Waterloo's defence made an impact in the game as well, clearing the zone and assisting on many of the Wolves goals. Goalie, #31 Bernier was challenged by the 99ers forwards at times, but remained calmed, clearing many of their shots, helping to keep Waterloo in the lead.
