Win Against Kitchener Red
It was the best game played this season for Waterloo Black, as they pulled out all the stops, winning over Kitchener Jr. Rangers Red, 3-1!
Waterloo was on the attack from the first puck drop. There would be no sitting back and watching tonight. The starting defensive pairing of McMurry and Rudolph was solid; clearing the puck and positioning well at the Ranger blue line to keep the puck in scoring range. Speaking of scoring, the Eamer twins, #22 and #66 were the first to find the score sheet, with the first and second goals of the game. Great positioning and quick shots overpowered Kitchener's goalie and stunned their defence. Waterloo demonstrated great versatility, as the forwards needed to adjust to a different line up almost every shift, in the absence of a valuable player. Beckner, #4, had an amazing game; chasing down the opponent, stripping the puck and passing forward into the Kitchener zone. The pressure the Wolves put on the Rangers was showing, as the Kitchener players returned to their bench winded and frustrated. Waterloo took advantage of this and pushed even harder, winning puck battles, and going after the loose puck. As a few injuries surfaced, Waterloo would need to dig even deeper into their reserve. Determined to win, they persevered in the final minutes, in a 6 on 5 situation, as Kitchener pulled their goalie. Labrie, #27 slipped past the defence and placed the puck in the far right corner like the star on a Christmas tree. The Waterloo fans went crazy with cheers as they jumped out of their seats to celebrate this win. Great job coaches. You managed the bench with the right amount of enthusiasm, encouragement and push to motivate the players in this important game of the season!!
