Novice MD Red finish off strong at the Cujo Tournament in Newmarket, Ontario
The Wolves started off to a slow start with battling the Blue puck but showed that their skating and durance would prevail.

The young Wolves started off on Friday January 19th with a mid-afternoon game against a strong Essex Ravens team.  The boys tried to get the cobwebs out early, but struggled adjusting to the lighter puck and getting their chemistry going against a speedy Ravens team.  Strachs was the lone scorer for the Wolves.  Losing the game 6-1.

Game two came at prime time viewing with a 6:45pm start.  The young Wolves, regrouped back offsite with some nutrition and fluids and readied themselves for strong Quinte West Hawks team.  Again, the Wolves came out hesitant but started to battle and show perseverance.  Unfortunately, the Hawks scored a couple quick goals and did not look back.  Jonesy and Couzy scored for the Wolves to make it a 7-2 game.

Game three, the young Wolves got some much-needed rest to regroup for an early afternoon Saturday game against the New Tecumseh Tornadoes.  The young Wolves showed up to play against a tough Tornados team.  The Wolves struggled to hit the net with their shots and went down quick to a 1-0 deficit.  The boys continued to work, battle and skate, which is our strength.  Strachs and Nater each scored singles to keep the game tied at 2 a-piece for the Wolves and Tornados.  Making this a nail biter, the teams went into sudden death with some serious pressure by the Wolves and could not beat the Tornados’ hot goaltender…until we released Nater!  Nater broke loose and went in along to give the Wolves the win.  The entire team worked hard and the win comes collectively, along with strong defense by Hutty, Kinger, Fitzy, Monty, Tias, and Dre.

Game four came quickly for the boys, Saturday afternoon, facing a tough team, the Oshawa Generals.  Great battles and back forth play at both ends of the ice proved to be a hard match for the Wolves.  Jonesy, Monty and Kropfy each scoring singles for the Wolves could not keep pace with the Generals who closed out with 6 goals and Fitzy making sure he plays strong and showed that no one pushes our goalies around!

Game five came Sunday morning after a great rest and team building with some serious BeyBlading.  The boys came to play.  Facing the London Bandits, the boys felt they need to close out the tourney in the Ruby Consolation finals with a big win…and that they did.  Back to the team we know, the boys were making slick passes, hard battles retrieving the puck and relentless pursuit for a common goal.  We had great goaltending from Reider and Rowe and solid defensive plays to get the puck up to our forwards, who seemed to score at will.  Jonesy and Monty with two a piece, Kropfy and Strachs with singles and Nater with the hatty.

The tournament meant more than the scoring and winning but more about adversity, hard work and the comradery/team spirit along with the brotherhood these 7 year old’s build with each other.

The Wolves have a couple practices, to prepare for the coming weekend when they travel to the Hamilton Huskey’s barn and at home on Sunday to battle the Cambridge Hawks Reds.
