Novice MD Red gain 4 points out of 6 over the last three games to solidify a playoff spot
The young Wolves have one more game to play in the regular season but have solidified a third-place finish, only a couple points behind the second-place Brantford 99ers.

The Wolves played a dominating game on Sunday March 4th against a big and talented Cambridge Hawks team.  The younger Wolves played a play-makers game with solid “Adam Oates” type of setups with several scorers.  It was good that the Cambridge jerseys had red in them to match the red-light “sun burn” on the back of the goalie’s neck, with the Wolves lighting the lamp 7 times by Jonesy, Monty, Couzy, Pax Attack and Nater.  Kinger rounded out the scoring, potting two.

The Saturday March 10th game was Hockey night in Canada and a playoff atmosphere in the AMC, downtown Waterloo.  It was against the Branford 99ers 8yr old team and a pre-amp to who the Wolves will face to start the playoffs.  It was a heated affair with the two teams.  With the Wolves taking the lead seconds into the game.  The boys battled, made several rushes and passing plays to dominate the puck possession game with speed.  Strachs potted two with Kropfy and Monty rounding out the scoring.  Solid defensive plays were made by Tias and the Fiddler had some solid puck rushing.  The allstar goaltenders, Reider and Mac-G made several saves contributing to a 4-2, convincing win.

Sunday March 11th was a matinee game against the 1st place Brantford 99ers team and was a test of two very strong teams.  In a back and forth battle, the 99ers had an extra step on the tired Wolves.  Jonesy and Nater scored early on, with Fitzy making a rush comparable to an Erik Karlsson drive but the difference between the two….Fitzy had finish and scored!!  There were some great defensive plays and assists by Hutty, Double J ,Dre and Cruiksy but  unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough, with the powerful 99ers potting 2 more to win the game 5-3.

The Wolves prep to take on their last game of the season against the Hamilton Huskies in their barn on Saturday March 17th
The boys then prepare for the start of the playoffs/playdowns against 8 yrs old Brantford 99ers on what looks to be a tentative date of Saturday March 24th in Bracket B.  See link for Tier 3 playdowns for more details:  https://alliancehockey.com/Rounds/17360/Minor_Development_2017-2018_East_Central_Novice_Playdown_Tier_3/.
