Waterloo vs. Kitchener - Round 2
From Team Correspondent Curtis:

Good evening folks and welcome to Sports Desk. Tonight we have a rematch of the Wolves vs the Kitchener Rangers. They last played an exhibition match on the Sportsworld Twin Pad back on November 25th where the Wolves notched a 2 - 0 win. This time the Rangers came to the Albert Igloo to try again. Alex takes the start in net, and Clayton joins the team to fill in for Curtis who's on the injured reserve list.

Two minutes into the first period we see Jacob going clear down the middle. He drifts to the right, he's lining up the shot, then.....

he goes down. The referee calls for a penalty shot for tripping. The Kitchener fans disagree with the call but they can't change the decision. On the penalty shot Jacob gets another chance to finish the play. He starts down the middle, he swings a little to the right, the goalie drops, and he tips it over his left pad and in to give the Wolves a 1 - 0 lead. Three minutes later Jacob gets a handle on the puck down in the Kitchener end, he passes to Xavier who takes the shot and GOAL! Waterloo takes a 2 - 0 lead as the period winds down. With only seconds to go a Kitchener player gets into the crease, and a Waterloo player pushes him from behind, knocking him into the goal post. He gets 2 minutes in the box but the Kitchener fans demand a longer penalty, which also fails to sway the referees.

The second period starts with Josh breaking clear, he sends one at the 5-hole but instead of finding the net he finds a tender spot on the goalie, who needs a minute or two to compose himself before continuing. Alex gets a good workout throughout the period but keeps all-comers at bay, ending the period with Waterloo still leading 2 - 0.

Early in the third Alex gets his blocker onto a high, inside slap shot. Dion grabs it, takes it long and manages to get clear, he takes the shot but is saved. Later, a Waterloo player gets caught holding, which puts Kitchener on a power-play. Kitchener doesn't capitalize on it, and soon the tables turn and Kitchener has two players in the box, each with 4-minute major penalties. The Kitchener fans have a lot of backseat referees and coaches among them, who voice their displeasure about the play. Waterloo doesn't let this opportunity pass, and we see Josh making a move, he flits to the right, dives toward the net, he gets pushed, makes the falling shot and scores on the short side! What a beauty! Two minutes later Kitchener gets a power-play on a Waterloo trip, and yet again the alternate coaches and referees have an opinion. With a minute to go Alex uses the hot blocker again to save his shutout. The game ends with Waterloo taking it 3 - 0.
