Fergus Road Trip
From Team Correspondent Curtis:

Good evening folks and welcome to Sports Desk. We have a game from Sunday January 12th at the Fergus District Arena to update you on, where the Wolves of Waterloo met the Centre Wellington Fusion. James L and Clayton J were filling in for Spencer and Casey B, and it was Emmett's turn between the pipes. Some of the Wolves were at a tournament in London and came to Fergus all limbered up and ready to play their 5th game of the weekend.

The scorekeeper played his favourite trippy synth music for the hockey fans, and he didn't let a little thing like a hockey game get in the way of our musical enjoyment. The song ended and the game was already well underway. At 7:23 Xavier gets the first shot of the game, which gets stopped by the attentive Fusion goalie. At 5:43 there's a scramble in the Fusion end as the Josh-Curtis-Peter line try to put together a play. Peter sends it to Curtis, then Curtis up to Josh, and Josh finishes it off by tapping it in to put Waterloo up on the board. On the next puck drop Colin gets the puck and drives down the middle right at the Fusion defence. He gets past them, looks a little surprised that he made it, then fires off a shot that gets saved.

In the second period we see Curtis going behind the Fusion net, he passes up the Josh but there's a little too much traffic for him to do much with it. Later in the period Carter grabs the puck, he skirts past the defence and tosses a promising backhander at the net, but it too gets saved. Halfway through the period we see the Fusion go on a strong looking rush. They get into the Waterloo zone, it's tic-tac-toe and a shot goes over Emmett's right pad and into the net, tying the game. On the next draw it looks like Waterloo is having a bit of a hard time controlling the game. Emmett faces a tough shot but he keeps it out. A few seconds later, a Fusion player makes some dandy moves, he starts falling but fires off a beauty of a shot and hits the net on the long side, and now Waterloo is down by one. Things are really heating up in this period. Ben flies like lightening on a back-check where he strips a Fusion forward of the puck as he's about to shoot. Soon after, Xavier goes right down the middle, he splits the defence, and rings one off the goalie's mask. Now with ten seconds left in the period a Fusion player sends the puck high up into the rafters right at the Waterloo goal and almost gets an awkward shot in, but Emmett is there to shut it down.

Waterloo is down 2 to 1 at the start of the third period. The Waterloo defence isn't letting much get by them, and whatever gets by, Emmett manages to shut down. As the period ticks down, Grant goes long, it looks promising, but the shot is deflected away. At 1:59 there's a scramble in the Fusion end. Xavier passes over to Jacob, who sends it to Colin who buries it! Nice goal, and now it's a tie game with less than two minutes to go. There are lots of scoring chances going back and forth. With six seconds to go Carter flies along the left wing, it looks promising, he takes  a shot and....saved! And that's how the game ends - a 2 - 2 tie.
