Silver Medalists at Byron Optimist Cup
The MD Timber Wolves had a great weekend in London.
The Wolves were in London for the Byron Optimist Cup and after opening their tournament with ties against the London Bandits and North London Nationals they knew it was win or go home for their next two games. The players delivered with a convincing 4-1 win against the George Bell Civitans to make their next game a must win to make the finals. Taking a 4-1 lead into the third period against the Don Mills Flyers did not guarantee a win, especially with the Flyers scoring two to make it interesting. The Wolves dug deep in the last minutes to secure the win and put themselves in the finals.
The Championship game was a rematch against the London Bandits and although the Wolves out played their opponents in the first ten minutes they found themselves down three heading into the final period. The Timber Wolves were able to notch one goal to make it a little closer but that was all they could muster and the Bandits triumphed in a good game by both teams.
