GAME RECAP # 1

Our first game of the weekend saw the JDI Team face-off against Schlueter Chevrolet.  With a short bench, our players had to dig deep within to fend off our opposition.  The first period ended in a tie with Ben McKay driving home a pass from Quinton Kaminski.  We held Schlueter to one goal in the second period.  Our short bench caught up with our squad in the 3rd period.  With tired legs, Harmon netted our second goal of the game with an assist going to Elliot.  In the end, the well rested bench of Schlueter was victorious.  Great effort from our guys this game.  We put everything we had on the ice.

GAME RECAP # 2

It has to be mentioned first thing in this recap.......BEN MCKAY SCORED A HAT TRICK!!!!!!!!!!  Amazing!!!!  Ben started his charge halfway through the first with an assist coming from Caleb and Zach.  Less than a minute later, Michael Shaw charged the net scoring the second goal of the game from a Phillip Spence feed from the point.  We held our opponents to a single goal in the second period.  RE-charged for the third period, Ben Mckay showed his persistence in front of the net to give the lead back to JDI.  The goal was un-assisted.  The battled continued mid-way through the third as Schlueter Hyundai tied the game.  Not wanting their hard work to go to waste, the JDI team charged on.  Cole lead the way scoring the go-ahead goal with a pass from Michael Shaw and for his second assist of the game; Zach Bruce!!  Sealing the fate of Schlueter Hyundai; Ben McKay completed his hat trick with a TSN-Highlight-Wrap-Around-GOAL with the assist going to Cole.   FANTASTIC FINISH!!!!  Before the game the coaches asked the boys to do 3 things. 1) pressure the player with the puck.  Don't give them time or space to decide what to do.  Go after each player as soon as they touch the puck.  2) Play the passing game that they do so well.  Work as a team by passing the puck.  The puck can be passed faster than any player can skate.  Use that to our advantage.  3) Positional play.  Good things happen when we are in the space we are supposed to be in.  Watching the game unfold from the bench; I couldn't have asked for a better execution of what I had asked in the pre-game chat.  Very proud that the players trust what I tell them enough to do it in a game!!  Super job.  Super proud COACHES!!
