GAME RECAP:

This weeks game showcased the true depth of our team.  Allstate Insurance had 4 unanswered goal on us until mid-way through the second period.  Our squad held strong and didn't give up the fight.  We stuck to our fundamental game and battled back!!  Michael Shaw broke the silence with a goal 5 minutes into the second period with an assist coming from Harmon.  Quinton beat the 2nd period buzzer netting a rebound.  Assists on that goal go to Matt and Coulter.

The loan ringer in the 3rd period was scored by Quinton unassisted.  The end of the game wasn't without our chances.  The opposition was pinned in their end by our relentless offense.  The Allstate goalie held their lead; ending our game in a 4-3 lose.  I am very proud of our team.  We didn't give up. It was a win in my books!!

PRACTICE RECAP:

This weeks technical portion of the practice started with our V-Start.  The V-Start is a great burst of speed from a stopped position.  The drill progressed into end to end stops with the players dropping to their knees at each line to guarantee a full stop.  We then performed our "Chaos Drill".  The players skate within a zone with their heads-up keeping the puck in constant control.  The drill adds a partner to incorporate a pass.  Coach Kevin and I decreased the size of the zone adding another element for the players to be attentive to.  This is a great game scenario drill that will only make the players more comfortable in a fast paced game setting.
The tactical portion of the practice was a 3 on 2 drill with a break-out element for the defense.  We only had 8 skaters plus our goalie, so we took it somewhat easy on the guys.  We had a game the previous day so I wanted to keep the practice light on the legs.
The fun portion of the practice had 2 players staring from their stomachs.  On the whistle, they raced around cones at the blue line for posession of a lone puck.  The victor of the race went in for a shot on Aidan our superstar goalie.  If there was a rebound, the trailer was granted a follow-up shot for scoring glory.  Great practice GUYS!!  Super effort by all.
