Wolves Hottest Team in Alliance
The Waterloo Wolves 6 to 1 win over the London Jr Knights White was the teams fifth straight league win and eighth straight win if you include tournament play.

To say the team is playing hot is an understatement. No team is on a bigger win streak. You would have to go back to November 9th to see a loss and the team remains tied for second in the league with a .700 win percentage and a +32 goal differential.

Another common theme this season is Michigan. Not only will the Wolves play their final tournament in the state of Michigan at the Motown Classic in Detroit, but two Wolves players (and counting) scored a Michigan goal this season. Captain Ben Morton had the first and last night Casey Ross had another.  Ross’ Michigan was assisted by Ethan Kralik and Keegan Weatherdon.

Weatherdon had an impressive 5-point evening with a hattrick and pair of assists. His first goal was set up by Morton and Owen Miloje. His second was from Morton and Reed Rozema and his third from Jacob Shaughnessy. On top of the Ross assist, Weateherdon earned an assist on a goal from Morton. Rozema also scored from Connor Wilson and Shaughnessy.

The Wolves fired 54 shots at the Knights and played with a consistent and constant attack. Allan Wang played a strong two-way game for his team and the forwards did a great job getting pucks to the defenders. Jack Smith and Logan Murtha saw time on the powerplay and generated scoring opportunities, as did Christopher Ding and Jack Gardner. It was a thrilling game where every player contributed, and every player played with physicality.

Jake Howard earned the win for the Wolves. In the third period Howard left his net to track a puck that was headed behind the net only for it to hit a sanction and redirect onto the net. Howard dove back towards his net and was able to stop the puck from going into the empty net with an extended stick. It was a good example of the alertness and athleticism Howards displayed night in and night out for his team.

December is an odd month for the Wolves in that the team only plays at home one time. Next weekend the Wolves head to Woodstock in hopes to keep the winning ways going into the new year!

Well done, Wolves.
