Wolves Keep Rolling
Another weekend of hockey and another weekend of winning for the Waterloo Wolves.

This weekend’s victims were the GLHA Jr Mustangs, who the Wolves beat 6 to 1, and the Cambridge Hawks, who the Wolves defeated 5 to 2. The 11 goals scored put the Wolves to a season high +27 and the wins increased their winning percentage to 0.750 to put them in a tie for 2nd place in the Alliance standings.

Not too shabby considering there is a ton of work to put in as the Wolves enter Phase 2 of their season plan.

Against the Mustang, Connor Wilson put up a two-goal game for his team. Wilson’s first goal was set up by Keegan Weatherdon and Ben Morton and his second was from Ethan Kralik and Casey Ross. Kralik added a goal from Jack Gardner and Allan Wang. Jacob Shaughnessy scored from Owen Miloje and Morton before Morton scored from Weatherdon and Logan Murtha. Wang put the final nail in the coffin unassisted.

Against the Hawks, the Wolves came out on fire with a goal from Wilson on a Jack Smith redirect with Shaughnessy also earning an assist. Christopher Ding put the finishing touches on a slick move by Morton with Wang getting in on the action as well. Morton scored from Ross and Reed Rozema and then Rozema scored from Smith and Ross. Morton had another goal from Gardner and Kralik.

As has been the case all season, the Wolves received fantastic goaltending over the weekend. Ciaran Guitton-Quayle stood tall against the Mustang and Jake Howard frustrated the Hawks. Having such strong goalies has been a blessing and always has the Wolves players feeling confident no matter who is between the pipes.

As stated, the Wolves players deserve to feel good about their play. The passing and effort have been terrific, and the players continue to display a tight knit team culture. But to truly be a contender and convince all the doubters they are a legit threat to win Alliance they will need to really study their games and work on their systems.

Time to get working Wolves!
