Bashir has a condition called Post Injection Paralysis and has lost function in his left foot. This means his foot becomes painful when he walks long distances and he can't participate in many activities of kids his age. He was born with normal function in both his feet but when he was 8 years old he received an injection in his left hip for malaria. Soon afterward, he began to lose sensation and function in his foot and he has been like this ever since. When injections are given in the wrong location the toxicity can damage the sciatic nerve and cause this disability. Regretfully, this is a common occurrence in Uganda. The family has no funds to pay for treatment.
Since he has partial nerve damage he will never walk perfectly but we'd love to see him walking on the bottom of his foot with significantly greater function than he has now. We would be so grateful for your team's help in giving this boy a chance at life!
