Wolves Claw Out Another Win
There definitely wasn’t a lack of intensity in the Waterloo Wolves U16 2 to 1 win in Game 2 against the Brantford 99ers Wednesday night. Both teams played hard for the full game and threw some thunderous hits.

The games heroics were widespread but the Michael Wei game winner from Jackson Andrews and Ethan Wasylyshyn and the Jack Driscoll game saver on the 99ers breakaway in the third period had to stand out.

Another huge performance was from all the team’s penalty killers for their amazing hard work preventing the 99ers from taking advantage of too many minutes in the box by the Wolves.

Cole Hunsberger tied the game for the Wolves when he scored a beauty from Declan Uniac and Matthew Ball. Shortly after the Griffin Beddis, Cole Ledgister and Hunter McMurdo line almost put the Wolves ahead in the second period. However, the game remained tied until the Wei goal.

It was a huge defensive battle and the Wolves defenders rose to the occasion with Ben Yong unavailable for the game. Cooper Gaul played big minutes on the back end delivering big hits and even had to fill in as a forward. Riley Webster and Jaxon Broda were both killing penalties and working the power play. Jackson McNichol played heavy minutes and was a force in his end with a massive hit at the end of the game. As always, Jackson Dietz was a calming steady presence for the team.

The game was full of excitement right to the final buzzer and credit to both teams for working so hard and playing right to the bitter end.

The Wolves won’t have too much time to enjoy the win however with the series heading to Waterloo for game 3 Thursday night. It is expected to be an even bigger challenge for the players and a challenge the coaches believe the team is prepared to concur.

Go Wolves!
