Wolves Sweep Way to Finals
The brooms came out in game 4 of the playoffs for the Waterloo Wolves with a 2 to 1 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Every game in the series was decided by only a goal and it was a tough series where you were never able to be comfortable. Playoff hockey is the best type of hockey and the intensity was again center stage.

Mr. Game Winner, Cole Ledgister, took a Hunter McMurdo feed to slay the 99ers and earn back-to-back game winning goals. Cooper Gaul made a nifty pass to Cole Hunsberger to tie the game at one in the first.

Nate Sexton closed the series for his team. Sexton made several key saves late in the game and did a great job limiting second chances.

The Wolves knew they would be pressured along the walls in the defensive zone and the team’s wingers battled hard. Ethan Wasylyshyn, Michael Wei and Declan Uniac all rose to the occasion and made plays that saved their team.

Another particularly strong area for the team was down the middle. Matthew Ball, Jackson Andrews and Ledgister supported the defenders and made sure to be an option on the breakouts.

Speaking of the defense, the Wolves rolled five players; Jaxon Broda, Jackson McNichol, Jackson Dietz and Riley Webster, and they all were pivotal in the win. The 99ers tried to get pucks behind them and tried stretch passes to get through the zone but were unsuccessful because of the Wolves strong defense.

It was a huge win for the players. The team wanted to avoid heading back to Brantford and impressed their coaches with their work ethic and dedication. If the players can keep pushing forward, nothing can stop them from a championship banner. Up next, the Wolves will face the London Jr. Knights White in a best 3 of 5 series with the series starting Monday in London.
