Wolves Return to Action
The Waterloo Wolve U16 team accomplished their first goal of the season seeding into the AA loop after an amazing 10-1 record. Fresh out of the mandated lockdown, the Wolves entered AA play with a home and home with the London Jr Knights Green.

In the first game, the Wolves showed obvious signs of rust and fatigue. The team was a step behind the Knights who had played 2 games before the Wolves saw action and clearly benefitted from game intensity. The Home team suffered a 2 to 0 loss and were left frustrated.

That said, the Wolves headed to London determined and focused. The result was a 3 to 0 win!

Much like Jack Driscoll in the first game, Nate Sexton came to play and gave the Wolves a sold performance. In the first game back Driscoll was hung out to dry and made several key stops and was a lone bright spot. In the win, Sexton provided a spark for his team making saves to keep the score even until the Wolves got on the board. Then made no mistakes keeping them off the board the rest of the night.

Cole Ledgister opened the scoring for the Wolves from Griffin Beddis and Riley Webster. Declan Uniac had a pair for the Wolves after that with his first coming from Matthew Ball and Cole Hunsberger. His second from Ball off the draw into the empty net.

A big part of the win was the Wolves ability to kill penalties. Ethan Wasylyshyn, Jackson Andrews, Hunter McMurdo and Michael Wei carried the bulk of the job from the forwards while Jackson Dietz, Jackson McNichol, Jaxon Broda and Ben Yong held the fort for the defense.

As is the case in any shutout, the whole team needs to step up and play hard. Tim Hodson was vital to the team with his energy and backchecking while Cooper Gaul played one of his most effective games of the season using his big frame and heavy shot.

The team doesn’t have much time to savior the win as they head to Cambridge for a second game in as many nights. The players will need to play the same focused and determined game to get the win and keep building momentum.

Go Wolves!
