MD Peewee White lose a close game against Cambridge.
Despite losing 6 to 5 against the Cambridge Hawks, the White Wolves clinch 6th place to qualify for Tier 1 playdowns.

Waterloo staked Cambridge to an early 2 -0 lead before Keelan Ropp jumped on a rebound shot from the point to make it 2 – 1 with time winding down in the first. Cambridge took advantage of a fortuitous bounce in front of Waterloo’s net to put the team down 3 – 1 to end the period.

Coach Stark fired the boys during the intermission break. Three minutes into the second, Aidan MacKinnon rifled a bullet from the blue line that beat the Cambridge netminder low stick side. Then 27 seconds later, the wolves showed the fans their tic tac Taylor play that had Andrew Z-D, pass to Ethan Andres who spotted Hayden Taylor all alone making it 3 – 3. The boys were battling hard throughout the period and were rewarded with another goal when Ethan Andres buried the puck top cheese on a sprawling goalie. Waterloo netted their fourth goal of the period on a rebound shot from the point.

The team played a bit too aggressively as they found themselves in penalty trouble for most of the third period that allowed Cambridge to score three goals and take the lead back.

Good game boys, you certainly skated hard and fast. Keep working hard.

Results from other games this weekend, combined with the remaining league schedule indicate that the White Wolves can finish no worse than sixth and have earned a Tier 1 position for playdowns.

Good luck next week against Hamilton White.
