Waterloo took down Hamilton Red with a 4 - 1 win in convincing fashion.
There was no doubt that Waterloo was not going to win. Once the puck was dropped, the wolves kept the play in Hamilton’s zone for the first 7 minutes of the game. Waterloo had many opportunities to open the scoring but it was a hot Hamilton goalie that kept the wolves at bay. The wolves’ effort was rewarded late in the period when Andrew Z-D buried the puck through a crowd, high glove side to start the puck rolling.
Hamilton snuck the puck in early in the 2nd period to tie things up. Andrew Z-D roared right back with his second goal of the game to give the boys the lead. Waterloo kept the puck in deep with excellent passing and cycling. Hamilton could not get out of their zone while the team kept up the intense pressure until the end of the second.
Waterloo came out strong and the played the trap in the neutral zone allowing Hayden Taylor to rifle the puck top cheese extending Waterloo’s lead by 2. Waterloo kept pressing late in the game when Enoch Banjo blasted one off the post putting the final nail in the coffin.
