St Catharines Weekend Update
The boys had the opportunity this weekend to participate in their first tournament of the season.  For many of them, this was their first hockey tournament ever!!!

They competed in the John MacDonald Memorial MD Tournament St Catharines.  It was a weekend that included a hotel stay, swimming, mini-stick tournaments, pizza parties, bowling and a Niagara IceDogs Game!!

Oh yeah, they also played a few hockey games.....

The boys had a good start by defeating the Georgina Blaze 4-2.  The boys gained a quick lead with Michael scoring 20 seconds into the game!  By the end of the second period, the game was tied 2-2, with Jared getting our second goal.  It wasn't until the final two minutes of the game that the team secured the win with goals by Evin, and Michael, who picked up his second goal of the game.

In the second game we encountered a much higher skilled team from Cookstown out of the Mississauga Hockey League.  Although we lost 12-0, our goalies Griffen and Sam made some amazing saves after facing over 40 shots!! The coaching staff was extremely proud with how the boys didn't give up.  In fact, they worked even harder as the game went on.  It was one of those character-building moments that will serve them well in the future.

In the third game against the York Mills Rangers, the boys were in a must-win game.  Unfortunately, they couldn't generate any consistent offensive pressure and ran into a hot goalie from the Rangers.

Although the boys couldn't advance to the semi-finals, they had an amazing weekend of fun and camaraderie.  It was a valuable team-building event that will go a long way to help ensure future success.

Over the 3 games, the Super Wolf was awarded to three boys that showcased a great level of effort, hustle and teamwork.

Congratulations to: Owen B, Carson and Owen J!!!
