Black Wolves Off To A Promising Start
With a focus on building skills the Black Wolves have laid some solid routes to what this team is capable of this year. With a 1-2-2 record and a super comeback on a two goal deficit against a more experienced Kitchener White these boys are showing some great promise.

The past weekend saw the Black Wolves travel to St. Catherines for their first tournament of the year. With a 9:45am start to game one, many of these boys were out of bed pretty early to get on the road to head to the Niagara area. The Wolves met the Oakridges Areos to start the day Friday. After a slow start the boys picked things up quickly pouring the puck into the net a total of six times to close out a shut out start for their first game of the tournament. A great effort from Andy Ye earned the solid defensemen the very first hard workin helmet award of the Black Wolves season.

Game two saw the Wolves face a super strong squad from North Toronto that put a quick damper on the Wolves hopes of a second win. With a single goal from Brady Meyer (assists to Tyson Hirsh and Sam Hodson) the Wolves learned quickly what kind of power and experience were out there.

Game three saw the Wolves face an up and coming team from Shomberg. A see saw battle would carry through to the end of the second period with goals from Jack Thompson (assists Evan Miloje, Nolan McPherson), Brady Meyer (assist Tyson Hirsh) and Gavin McLeod (assists Jack Thompson, Noah Myke) to hold onto a 3-2 win.

It was a stressfilled Saturday night waiting to hear if our two wins had earned us a semi-final birth, but soon after 7pm we got the word that the boys had made it to the final four. An early Sunday morning game saw the Wolves get a second shot at the highly skilled North Toronto team. After some gritty hockey from the boys and some great defensive efforts it was evident that everything the Wolves had would not be enough to compete with a team that looked to have multiple years of experience together.

Overall with some great team building time and some great parent bonding time the weekend proved to be a great success of fun and enjoyment for all the Black Wolves both player and family.

The Black Wolves travel to Kitchener Tuesday night at 7pm at Grand River Arena in Kitchener to face a highly touted Ranger Blue team. Go Wolves Go!!!!
