Gretzky Tourney a shining success for Novice Black
The Christmas season brought some great success for the Novice Wolves black this past week. After a tough December the team seemed to put things together showing off the effort, focus and determination they have invested in their practices.

After a rough few weeks leading up the Christmas the boys hit the ice strong rolling over a Burlington Bulldogs team that had inflicted serious damage in a 10-2 hammering only a week before. With some of the best team play seen yet this season the Wolves put together a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs to start the week.

Game two saw the Wolves meet a new opponent taking on the OMHA's Brampton 45's. With the 45's sitting strongly in their own league standings it seemed this would be a tall order for the boys in black. The Wolves came out with a strong start taking control of things from the start. Brampton would not be left to sit back and continued to battle back all game. After another great example of team play and hard work the Wolves would finish off a 3-2 win.

Day two of the tourney saw more interleague play with the Wolves facing the Aurora tigers and Guelph Gryphons. This day would again bring to life a team of 17 players working together every shift of every period to take Aurora 6-0 and Guelph 4-2 to finish off round robin play at a perfect 4 and 0, qualifying the Wolves at a number three seed in quarterfinal action.

The Wolves would again face the hard working Brampton 45's in the quarterfinals and after a strong Brampton start, the boys once again battled back to take another 3-2 victory putting them through to the semi-final where they would meet a familiar foe in the Hamilton Huskies. The Huskies brought their much anticipated physical game throwing the Wolves off their game from the start. The boys in black battled with everything they had but just couldn't match the Huskie's strength and experience with Hamilton putting up a 6-1 victory to advance to the tournament finals against the Simcoe Warriors.

In the end it would be Simcoe taking the crown shutting down the Huskies 5-1 to take home tournament bragging rights for 2015.

The Wolves should be very proud of the effort they made and the success that resulted with some great scoring runs by Tyson Hirsch with 8 goals, Evan Miloje and Jack Thompson both with three goals and Jack Cumming with two on the week. Every goal scored was the direct result of a full team effort to force the puck into the offensive zone. Kiril Kenzap's four game shut out through the round robin games coupled with a superb defensive effort would be a major contributor to the Wolves Success on the week.
