Up and Down Weekend for Wolves
This past weekend saw the Novice Black Wolves encounter some great teams in the Burlington MD challenge tournament.

The Wolves first encounter was with a highly skilled West London Hawks, who appeared to have much experience under their belts from the get go. The Wolves battled hard but were continually stoned by some great London defense holding the Wolves scoreless through three periods closing out a 6-0 final score.

Later that day after some fun time team bowling the Wolves headed back to the rink to face the home town Burlington Bulldogs. After a tough loss to Burlington in the first game of the season the Wolves came with a score to settle. The boys dug deep and at 3:31 of the first period Gavin McLeod opened up the scoring with assists from Jack Thompson and Willy Hehn. The second period proved to be fruitful for the boys as Jack Cumming scooped up some left over rubber to pocket his first of the game with an assist from Evan Miloje. The Wolves third goal came from Tyson Hirsch with a massive top corner shot after recieving the go ahead pass from Sam Hodson who grabbed the assist on the goal. In the dying seconds of the second period Jack Thompson wheeled his way through the crowd to pocket the Wolves fourth goal of the game with the assist coming from Noah Myke. The third period would see Jack Cumming dig his way to a second goal deep in the Burlington crease with assists from Evan Miloje and Brady Meyer. Noah Myke would close out the scoring on the day late in the third as he flipped the puck up and over the Burlington netminder to close out a 6 goal run for the Wolves. Defense and goaltending would also play a part in this strong team finish allowing only 2 goals in the game closing out an impressive 6-2 final score.

The Wolves returned to Burlington for game three of the tourney on Saturday only to run head on into a super strong team from Petrolia losing a hard fought battle 9-3.

The Novice Wolves get a break this coming weekend with no games and return to action Saturday December 12th at 1:30pm at the Wayne Gretzky center in Brantford.
