Skills Plus Winning Streak extends to 3 games

A few weeks back, after our team lost their 3rd straight game, the coach's told the boys to keep their heads up because we knew that the season could turn around quickly based on the hard work and skill we saw on this team.

Fast forward a few weeks and Skills Plus was just one win away from a .500 record. We knew our opponents Domino's Pizza would be a very tough challenge with a very skilled lineup that our team would need to contend with. The game was a very even affair with great scoring chances at both ends of the ice, fantastic defence and stellar goaltending.

Domino's Pizza scored the first goal of the game early in the first period, but our team realized they still had a lot of time left to recover. The comeback began with Logan N. firing a wrist shot from the point that was tipped in front and Simon H. banged in the rebound for his second goal in 2 games.

Both teams had great opportunities to break the 1-1 tie, but the goalies were outstanding and it stayed a tie game into the third period when Will H. tapped in a loose puck in the crease to make it 2-1 with about 3 minutes left in the game. It was his first goal and the entire bench was really excited for him. The end of the game was very interesting as we had to kill a penalty late to preserve the 2-1 victory.

Our next game is tomorrow at 12 noon at Moses Springer Arena. Don't forget it's picture day and the boys need to be dressed and ready for photos at 11:30am. Also, there are still 4 families that need to pay the $55 fee for the tournament we are booked for in January. Please give coach Joe your money tomorrow or at the practice on Sunday.

Keep your stick on the ice!
